The Laguna de Rocha is part of the group of lagoons in the department of Rocha. Since 1976, it belongs to the Biosphere Reserve of Los Bañados del Este. Its specificity is that it communicates with the ocean through a strip of sand. With an average depth of 50 cm, its ecosystem is particularly rich. The lagoon being a place of migration, you can see many species of birds. We can see for example pink flamingos and white geese. Among the aquatic species, we can mention the pejerrey, the lenguado and the perch. A nice walk or horseback ride: at dusk, it is a real enchantment.
