A reserve of 250 ha, at 1 hour 30 of Melbourne, dedicated to the conservation of vegetation and animals from the plains and swamps, especially birds. An observatory was set up in the information and education centre of Serendip. This territory is a kind of "natural incubator" from which, later, birds returning their natural habitat. The elegant Brolga (Australian hidden crane), the rare Cape Barren Goose (wild goose), the curious Bustard who no longer exists in Victoria and the incredible Tawny Frogmouth, a camouflage expert, find themselves there. These birds were formerly common in the large Victora Plains extending to the foot of the Otway Ranges, these plains are now the richest pastures in the region for merino sheep.Address: A Lara, 100 Windermere Road Tel 13 1963 (special number only from Australia)
