GURI I QYTETIT

A symbol of Përmet, the "City Rock" is a limestone formation standing 20 m high in the center of town, along the Vjosa river and near a small modern mosque. A metal staircase of some 70 steps leads to the top. Here, the ruins of a^5th-century Byzantine fortress remain. Legend has it that it belonged to the local lord Permt, who resisted the Ottomans in the ^14th century and gave his name to Përmet. From here, you can enjoy beautiful views over the town and the Vjosa valley.
