This huge natural bridge, created by the collapse of a cave carved by a mighty river, was one of the two wonders of the New World, with Niagara Falls discovered by European explorers in the th and th centuries. Explorers were so amazed that the Natural Bridge has been on several lists of the seven new wonders of the world since then. Thomas Jefferson bought a large parcel of land from the British crown including this site and built a log cabin where he liked to withdraw. The Natural Bridge site also houses impressive caves made of stalactites and stalagmites.Beside these stone monsters, a hiking trail, the Cedar Creek Trail leads to the reconstituted Indian village of a Monacan tribe. We can learn a little more about the living conditions of an Indian tribe more than 300 years ago thanks to the extras in costume costumes.
