RICHMOND NATIONAL BATTLEFIELD PARK - HISTORIC TREDEGAR

Natural site to discover

Richmond National Battlefield Park is not a battlefield as there are some elsewhere in the country. Richmond having been the confederacy capital, several scattered battles were held around the town, true target for unionistic ones, and some notable buildings played a key role for the camp of the South. These are the various sites that are grouped in this national park.

We invite you to begin with Visitor Center de Tredegar, located at the edge of James River, in downtown Richmond. This museum, housed in a metallurgical factory, complexes industrial key during the war, offers a thorough vision of the conflict. Visitor Center will give you the indications to go by your own means on various sites that make up the national park, sometimes located a few kilometres from the city, including the battlefields of Glendale- Malvern Hill, Fort Harrison or Cold Harbor. In Richmond even, you will not fail to visit Chimborazo Medical Museum, the largest military hospital created by Confederate, where you fancy the countless repatriated wounded soldiers face.
