PALÁCIO DO ITAMARATY
A building supported by concrete pillars emerging from a body of water, with a spherical statue on the outside, the Meteor
Since Baron de Rio Branco, diplomacy has been a Brazilian affair. This building, which retains the name of the former ministry in Rio, is supported by concrete pillars emerging from a body of water. It is the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (in Brazil, the "Ministry of External Relations"). Enjoy the hanging gardens on the top floor. Throughout the salons, you'll appreciate the fine art collection (Athos Bulcão, Alfredo Volpi, Bruno Giorgi...). Outside, the spherical statue, the Meteor, evoking the five continents, is by Giorgi.
