This capital is indeed the result of human will and geopolitical and economic considerations, which came together in a founding myth that is unique and original in the size and forms of its expression. The center of Brasília has the charm of futuristic cities, as they were conceived in the 1950s and 60s. The two inverted domes, the parallel towers of the Congress building and the considerable space that makes pedestrians almost strangers to this composition inevitably evoke this image of a science-fiction landscape, reinforced by the lunar-red soil of the region. Visitors sensitive to this utopian humanism will certainly be able to decipher the social symbolism of the monuments and buildings, organized according to the principles of Le Corbusier's linear functionalist urbanism. But to be perfectly honest, you get the impression of being in the suburbs of a capital whose center has been forgotten. Its urban planners and architects, bogged down in their intellectual theories and dreams, seem to have completely forgotten the human being, who should be at the heart of the project. But beyond the symbolic construction, Brasília today is a city of 2 million inhabitants, surrounded by 17 satellite towns where the little people live, and which suffers from the same problems as other Brazilian metropolises. This vast project is well worth a visit.
