DECEMBRIST MUSEUM
The region of Chita was also land of exile for the remote Décembristes from St. Petersburg by the Tsar. In Chita, the Décembristes Museum is housed in an ancient wooden church, the Church of the Archangel Michel. It gives a good overview of what this movement has been and about the lives of exiles in the region. Many paintings represent the nobility of St Petersburg gathered around this movement and depict the intervention of tsarist troops to end the Soulèvement uprising. The museum also contains some clothes and artifacts at the time.
