Just ten kilometers south of Pointe-Noire is the Djeno terminal, where all the oil tankers dock. The site was created in 1972 following the discovery of the Eméraude oil field, and is managed jointly by Total E&P Congo and ENI Congo. Today, it handles over 95% of Congolese crude oil production. It's true that the offshore oil tankers spoil the landscape a little. However, the coast is magnificent, there are some lovely lakes to visit and a number of tourist establishments (hotel/restaurants) that delight the people of Pontegrin. Many oil terminal workers also frequent the restaurants at lunchtime.
