Forbidden Cavern, featuring extensive caves east of Servierville, and the refuge of Indians during prohibition
Open to visitors since 1967, these vast caves to the east of Sevierville were once a refuge for the natives, before becoming a haven for distillers of adulterated whisky (the famous Moonshiner) during Prohibition. The water found there was indeed conducive to both. There are countless stories to be told on the tour. The ambient temperature is 58°F year-round, or around 14.5°C.
