A unique archaeological site, built around (among other things) Gallo-Roman remains and the statue of Vercingetorix.
Inaugurated in 2012, MuséoParc Alésia is the interpretation center dedicated to the battle of the same name, which saw Julius Caesar's victory over Vercingetorix in 52 BC. Completely modernized in 2021, its museography is immersive and intellectually accessible to all ages.
You know nothing about the Gauls or the Battle of Alesia, but you're fascinated by history? Then MuséoParc is the ideal educational site for you. With its permanent exhibition, the site doesn't just focus on the decisive battle. The exhibition takes as its starting point the clichés we all have about the Gauls, Vercingetorix or even the Romans, and deconstructs them as the visit progresses. First, you'll learn about the historical and geographical context of the battle to understand its development, then you'll learn more about the two protagonists and enemies: Vercingetorix and Julius Caesar.
Discover how the two-month battle unfolded, day by day, through workshops for all ages, and with the help of archaeological artefacts recovered on site. Find out how archaeology provides information about the main phases of the battle and the sites occupied by the different armies. More than just a museum, MuséoParc is a friendly place where everyone can spend a day relaxing, learning and having fun. Throughout the year, workshops bring the latest archaeological and historical discoveries within everyone's reach. On-site catering and archaeological site.
