Tešanjska Tvrđava
Large castle with walls 2.40 m thick and 10 m high, featuring a tower housing a small history museum.
Away from the tourist circuit, this castle (Tešanjska Tvrđava/Тешањска Тврђава) is one of the largest in the country. Covering an area of 6,300m2, it dominates the town of Tešanj (19 km southwest of Doboj, in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina), which has a population of around 5,000. Set on a steep, rocky hill, it took on its present form under the Ottomans in the late 17th century, with high ramparts and a mighty tower built on the base of a medieval keep. On-site: exhibitions, café and swings.
