Located 30 km from Shashemene, this sanctuary is dedicated to protecting the Swayne hartebeest, of which only 250 remained when it was created in 1971, following intensive poaching of its original herd of 3,000. Thanks to its protection, there are now around 500, but they remain under threat. This 54 km2 area, covered in scrub and forested with acacia trees, is also home to antelopes, oribis, kudus, hyenas, jackals and birds.Park office. 5 km from the park entrance, in Aje. Open Monday to Friday, 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and 1.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. Admission: 130 birr per person and 30 birr per vehicle. Compulsory Scout per group: 300 birr.
