THE BRANDYWINE BATTLEFIELD
Go there and contact
In September 1777, Washington places its troops along the river Brandywine hoping to secure the zone of Chadds Ford to block the road from Philadelphia to the English. Unfortunately, the indépendantistes are encircle, 300 are made prisoners and the losses are heavy. The site recounts this lost battle, which has not yet reached the morale of the troops, always ready to fight for their cause.
To begin the visit, you must first visit the Visitor Center; a little film recounts the conflict and recalls that it was with a young volunteer French that they fought in Brandywine: the Marquis de Lafayette, just landed. With a plan, it is then possible to visit General Washington (Benjamin Ring House) headquarters on a Quakers farm. Consult the website for special events, the battle is, for example, often reconstituted with costumes in costumes for Thanksgiving in November.
