About 30 minutes from Philadelphia, the Brandywine Valley is made up of vines and countryside roads, valleys and calms. Historians believe that his name comes from Andreas Brainwende, one of the first settlers who created one of the first grain mills on the lower part of the Delaware River. In the eighteenth century, Brandywine Valley was a major supplier of paper: mills provided paper to print the currency of the colonies and the famous Benjamin Franklin printing shop.Today, apart from the historic visits (Brandywine Battlefield), the valley has many hiking trails and several cellars can stop tasting wine from the region. The best known is probably Chaddsford Winery on the main road.
