Brandaris is an old brick lighthouse necessary, as the islands look very similar from afar, still in activity.
Brandaris is the identity of the island and everyone knows it. It is an imposing brick lighthouse, visible from far away. It is the oldest lighthouse still in activity in the country. Its name comes from Saint Brandarius. A lighthouse was necessary because the islands are very similar from far away. This lighthouse replaced the previous one which collapsed in 1570, which dates from 1594, it was equipped with an elevator in 1977 and its light is fully automated. Very exposed to the elements, it was completely renovated about ten years ago.
