The National Park of Ankarafantsika is located south of Marovoay, on the road to Antananarivo (RN 4), on an area of 135,000 ha. The lemurs (eight species) are present in one of the last forests of the region (vegetation of dry forest and humid forest, with an important rate of endemicity), but one can also meet pink flamingos, numerous varieties of birds (129 species, among which the Schetba rufa) and reptiles (harmless). The flora is superb. The area of Ampijiroa corresponds to the main tourist sites: 2 botanical gardens, the lake Ravelobe, the canyons of Ankarokaroka and the center of breeding of tortoises.
