Along the coast lies the village of Katsepy. A fishing village close to beautiful clear sandy beaches... well, not always, as the sea here often takes on a reddish hue (which doesn't please the tourists). There's also a celestine mine nearby. Periophthalms are the other curiosity of the area. These small blue-grey fish crawl across the sand and climb the mangrove trunks. From the 36 m-high Katsepy lighthouse, built in 1901 and recently restored 8 km to the north, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the pretty Bombetoka Bay in an hour and a half's walk. You can stay in rustic bungalows.
