La Savane des Esclaves, nestled in the countryside of Trois-Ilets in Martinique, is the fruit of Gilbert Larose's determination. Passionate about the history of his island, he created this village museum, dedicated to his Kalinagos and slave ancestors. On a three-hectare wooded plot, he cleared and rebuilt traditional huts using local materials. An emotionally-charged historical immersion into the past and heritage that make Martinique so rich. Allow 1h30 for the visit, no reservations required. A must-see.

Monday to Saturday 9 am to 4.30 pm, Sunday 9 am to 11.30 am. Rates: adults €12, seniors €11, young people €8 and children (aged 3-12) €5.Allow 1h30 for the visit without reservation. English and French.

LA SAVANE DES ESCLAVES is 400 years of Martinique's history to be discovered through various guided tours (history of slavery, way of life of yesteryear, medicinal plants, cocoa stick workshop, sale of cassaves). We look forward to welcoming you to our village, reconstituted by Gilbert Larose in Les Trois ilets, Martinique.
