Mickael Tosato's Marine World Museum was born of a youthful passion and many years of collecting. Over the years, he has constantly enriched his collection, which he exhibits in his family's hotel, l'Ecrin Bleu, in Le Diamant. Mickael's passion for seashells dates back to his earliest childhood: from the age of four, he began collecting shells.
A few years ago, he had to leave Martinique, leaving the reins to his brother Fabien to share this fabulous collection. It was at the end of 2017 that Fabien set up this unique place dedicated to the sea and its inhabitants, in the village of Poterie. More than 2,000 different species, including 700 from the West Indies alone, are referenced in 250 square meters of exhibition space, in a venue that puts the accent on the most meticulous staging.
Discover a wide variety of shellfish, starfish, sea urchins and crustaceans, as well as naturalized sharks and fish, turtles, dolphins and manatees, not to mention an impressive series of shark jaws (white, mako, tiger, etc.), including a life-size reconstruction of a Megalodon jaw. Seashells are arranged by family. A little further on, a superb fish gallery completes your visit.
It's a great way to discover this silent world. Round off your visit with a visit to the gift store, where you can pick up a souvenir from among the shells, starfish, jewelry, decorative objects and other wonders of the sea.
