Boca Tomatlán is located at the mouth of a river. The village has only a few small beach restaurants for locals and is populated mostly by Mexicans who fish from this beautiful cove. On the right side of the beach is a small pier from which water taxis depart for the beaches at the southern end of Bahia Banderas, as this is where Route 200 turns away from the coast and follows the mountain slopes of the Sierra Madre. The beaches further south - Las Animas, Quimixto, Yelapa - are not accessible by road and there is only one way to reach them: by boat.
