PRESERVE BARATARIA

Barataria Preserve is one of six sites throughout the state that comprise Jean Lafitte National Park. The nature reserve covers more than 10,500 acres of submerged land and wetlands. A plank trail leads into the bayou with spots set up with information panels to learn about the surrounding flora and fauna. Guided walking tours are organized by the rangers. The visitor center also features an exhibit on bayou wildlife and the Cajun lifestyle.
