The village of Hatteras is located in the south of the island. It is an important fishing port and the ferry departure point for Ocracoke Island. As in the entire region, there are very good seafood restaurants, as well as all budgets for all budgets. This is also where the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum is located. It contains hundreds of objects from some 3 000 ships that have been shipwrecked in the area for centuries.
