LA BATELLERIE
Furnished and decorated manor house with view on the river and gardens in Port-Sainte-Foy.
This mansion overlooking the old harbour for 260 years now was designed by Victor Louis, the architect of Opera de Bordeaux. It once belonged to a wine merchant and was even used as a Kommandantur during the Second World War. Its past is narrated by the owners to guests so that they will know its history. Everything is furnished and decorated with subtlety, without overloading but just enough to give the rooms a sense of well-being and make guest feel at home. The rooms have kept their woodwork, their chimneys and their hangings, while the carved staircase is beautiful. The former Maison de la Caleche has been transformed into a cottage with views of the river. Its gardens are exquisitely beautiful.
