Imire is located 110 km from Harare. In 1972, the owners of the ranch decided to transform part of their farmland into a reserve. They fenced off an area of 2,000 ha and gradually welcomed species such as giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, zebras, various antelopes and especially black rhinos. Nowadays, about 3,500 ha are fenced in and restaurants and rondavels have been built for travelers. Day trips are possible for those who do not want to stay overnight.
