Imire is 110 km from Harare. In 1972, the ranch's owners decided to turn part of their farmland into a game reserve. They fenced off an area of 2,000 ha and gradually welcomed species such as giraffe, buffalo, elephant, zebra, various antelopes and, above all, black rhino. Today, some 3,500 ha are fenced off, and restaurants and rondavels have been built for travelers. Day trips are available for those who don't want to spend the night.
