Planted on the hillside beside the road leading to Pointe Coton and Saint-François, Basanio, named after its former chef who worked in the hotel business for twenty years and passed on his know-how to his wife, is a simple, friendly stopover; a place as warm as its sunny yellow frontage and the generosity of its dishes. On the menu, you'll find everything fresh: shrimp fritters, beef stew, crab soup... We opt for a kono-kono salad, followed by a tit carry d'ourite and the house dessert: caramelized and flambéed pineapple . On the terrace.

At first this place used to be a reference for food but today the experience was beyond me. We came in and ordered food at around 13hrs30 to be served almost at 15hrs. That was not the problem since they said that grilled fish would take a bit of time. Our disappointment when we got served a small filet that would have taken 30 mins maximum to grill and for a two hours wait we were hoping for a whole grilled fish.instead it was a filet which judging from the color and crisps has bathe in a bit of oil and not grilled per say. The owners were kind though to make a commercial gesture but at first were reluctant to accept that the fault was theirs. Maybe on other days it's good but defo not on Sundays.
