Domaine Paul Ginglinger in Eguisheim: exceptional organic wines, Grands Crus, Crémants, Pinot Noir and cellar tours by appointment.
Since 1610, 13 generations of Ginglingers have been crafting exceptional organic wines at Eguisheim. Michel, an oenologist trained in Champagne and Burgundy, now runs a 12-hectare family estate, including two emblematic Grands Crus: Eichberg and Pfersigberg. Hand-harvesting, natural grassing and respectful ploughing cherish the limestone-marl soils to produce concentrated, pure and lively wines. The range? Elegant Crémants, mineral Rieslings, velvety Pinot Noirs, award-winning Gewurztraminer... Each bottle expresses the finesse and soul of the terroir.

One older man, seemed to be in a rush and more focused on other customers, making dismissive remarks about us “just wanting to buy one bottle and hesitating.” Regardless of how many bottles we intended to buy, the service should have been courteous. We could have purchased an entire case, but his attitude made us feel very unwelcome.
He wrote down the name of a bottle we were sure about and rushed us through the payment process while my partner was unsure about couple of wine that he would have bought in larger quantities but without even answering a simple question and saying he doesn’t know about his preference for another wine. All the while, he continued making remarks about us to other customers who appeared to be buying larger quantities, perhaps for a restaurant.
This level of rudeness completely overshadowed what should have been a pleasant visit. While the wines are good, the poor customer service left a lasting negative impression. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place based on the experience we had.
