DE FUNDATIE

This fine arts museum is housed in a former neoclassical courthouse. It exists since 1994 but was first dedicated to the art brut. Since 2004 it has been dedicated to modern art and 10 years ago it underwent its most recent transformation with the addition of an astonishing exhibition room (a sort of flattened egg) on the roof of the building. The collection is very eclectic and is the work of Dirk Hannema, former director of the Boijmans and founder of the museum. The exhibitions are innovative. The museum includes an outbuilding (a castle) and a sculpture garden.
