This museum is a real favorite. Located in the medieval château of Gacé, the exhibition devoted to the Lady of the Camellias is well worth a visit. The heroine of Alexandre Dumas' novel, based on Alphonsine Plessis dite Marie Duplessis, was born in 1824 in Nonant-le-Pin, Orne, and grew up in extreme poverty before becoming one of Paris's most famous courtesans. Through numerous objects and costumes, we discover the destiny of this woman who died of tuberculosis at the age of 23.
