THE MARKET GARDENER'S QUARTER
A popular district for Colmarians, once dedicated to vegetable growing.
A haven of peace nestled on the doorstep of Colmar, the district of Marquechers makes a stroll away from the urban tumult. This neighborhood is very popular with the Colmarians, both for walking and for life. As its name indicates, this neighborhood was once dedicated to vegetable crops, but there are still a few of them, one where you can get fresh vegetables and fruit. Today, despite the multitude of modern constructions, this sector enjoys a preserved nature that incites a stroll, both on foot, by bike or in roller! A walking and cycling path runs along the Lauch lined with trees on which the birds whistle, an ideal place for a green break along the river. You will discover an imposing willow with branches plunging into the stream. On the other side there are high rods in which water hens are looming. Everything along the way will be quiet, barely disturbed by the rugged theft of ducks and the scratch of frogs. As early as spring, you will have the chance to see swans and their little ones. A beautiful walk to the family on Sunday, to relax and enjoy the sun.
