Fabien Osmont had the good idea of putting Japan in the spotlight in his boutique Konjaku, the real Japan from kawaii to samurai. Passionate about Nipponese culture from an early age, he travels the length and breadth of Japan in search of artisans and other suppliers of beautifully finished products. Here, you'll find only beautiful, authentic objects directly imported, often one-of-a-kind handmade pieces. A little novelty for grown-ups: sake, that rice wine, is now available. For children, there's a kawai-manga area where you'll find little objects and costumes dear to cosplayers (who'll recognize themselves!), and for lovers of beautiful decorative pieces, the choice is varied: vases, sushi trays, tea goblets, in porcelain, glazed earthenware, cutlery, raku, lacquer, jewelry in Uwajima pearls (which resemble cultured pearls but with a slight natural coloring), tea boxes, kokeshis, lighting fixtures... Different worlds are represented: calligraphy, origami, ikebana (floral art), martial arts (with sublime exotic wooden swords). On the textile side, you'll marvel at the silk kimonos and haoris (second-hand to make them as affordable as possible) and cotton yukatas. You'll even find the traditional geta with its thick wooden sole! Upstairs, Fabien has set up a meeting and exchange area (with tatami, of course!) for demonstrations, events and workshops. Check out the program on his Facebook page. A must-see!
