Basarabeasca appeared in 1846 as a Jewish colony, originally called Romanovka in honour of the Russian imperial Romanov family. In 1859, 86 Jewish families worked the land and when Jewish land ownership was abolished in 1866, Basarabasca turned to wine production. At the beginning of the 19th century, the village developed thanks to its railway station. On September 11, 1957, the village of Romanovka was united with the German colony of Heinrichsdorff because 273 Germans were already living there in 1943. The village was renamed Basarabeasca and a border post with Ukraine is located there, Basarabeasca Serpniovoe.
