This monument is dedicated to the "liberation" of Chişinău by Soviet troops in August 1944. Two bronze figures represent a Soviet soldier with a sword in his right hand and an allegorical sculpture of Victory. The expressions reflect an exaggerated pathos and dynamic movements, classic of the Soviet sculptural art of the time. The monument was inaugurated on 21 August 1969 and the artist behind it is the sculptor Lazăr Dubinovschi.
