An idyllic island with a rose garden.
The only island in the Starnberger See is full of surprises. A small casino (but it's more of a villa than a casino) sits in the middle of a landscape in which roses play the leading role. It was the secret meeting place of King Ludwig II and Sissi. Famous guests of the king were also invited here, such as Tsarina Maria Alexandrowna and Richard Wagner. In summer, concerts are held in this magnificent setting. The roses usually bloom in mid-June and mid-August. An idyllic place on a beautiful summer's day.
