The market should have its name at its location. In 1839, the place was a muddy field crossed by a stream that bubbled, on which the Town Hall then set up a market. But it was not until 1914 that the current building was erected, with a certain symmetry. Due to its construction method, reinforced concrete on steel structure with granite corner bases, it was ahead of its time. It has undergone some modifications, the main one being the construction of a single storey during the 1940s. It is currently undergoing renovation work.
