MUSEUS DA CIDADE

Formerly Museu da Cidade. A project of the Porto municipality, it brings together several museums or spaces located from west to east of the city, with the aim of (re)discovering Porto from a variety of angles. The project consists of highlighting various social, geographical and artistic points of view through 16 "stations", such as archaeological sites, a water reserve, artists' houses, an industrial area, historical archives... In other words, the Museu do Porto has been conceived as an astonishing itinerary to be followed, with stages (museum-spaces) that allow visitors to question themselves about the city, its thousand-year-old history and its cosmopolitan identity, in order to enrich their knowledge. This project offers a new perspective on the cidade invicta. You can check the opening dates for the various locations on the Internet.

The 13 stations from west to east are :

Reservatorio: Parque da Pasteleira (Entrada Poente), Rua de Gomes Eanes de Azurara, Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Casa Marta Ortigão Sampaio: 299 Rua de Nossa Senhora de Fátima, Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Museu Romântico: at Quinta da Macieirinha, Rua de Entre-Quintas, Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Entre Quintas: 156 Rua de Entre Quintas. Banco de Materiais: Palacete dos Viscondes de Balsemão, 71 Praça de Carlos Alberto, Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Antiga casa da Câmara : Rua de São Sebastião. Temporarily closed at the time of writing in April 2025. Arqueossítio: 5 Rua de Dom Hugo, Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 5.30 pm. Free admission. Museu Guerra Junqueiro: 32 Rua de Dom Hugo, Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 5:30pm. Extensão do Douro (former Museu do Vinho do Porto): 33-37 Rua da Reboleira, Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 5:30pm. Temporarily closed in April 2025. Casa do Infante: 10 Rua da Alfândega, Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Biblioteca Sonora (access for blind and visually impaired people only): Biblioteca Pública Municipal do Porto (library access for all), 2 Rua de D. João IV, Monday and Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm; Tuesday to Friday, 9:30 am to 7:30 pm. Free admission. Also Gabinete gráfico. Ateliê António Carneiro: 363 Rua de António Carneiro, Monday to Friday, 10am to 12:30pm and 2pm to 5:30pm. Some stations were due to open but had not at the time of writing. To be continued.
