Victorian mansion in Newport, a National Historic Landmark, with collectibles.
Listed as a National Historic Site since 2006, the house was built in 1852 at the request of a wealthy Vermont merchant. The Victorian style interior is just as neat as the facade with its collector's items and stained glass windows. Chateau sur Mer was long Newport's most lavish home, until the Vanderbilt family's home was built in the 1890s. When you visit it, it's easy to imagine the extravagant parties held there!
