Chandler, named after a member of Congress, was built in 1891 as a result of the first Oklahoma land run (a race in which parcels of land were awarded to the first finisher). We stop there to visit its Route 66 Interpretive Center; in the old armory of the city. The lucky owners of the EZ 66 guidebook, an excellent reference to be guided on Route 66, will be able to meet its author (Jerry's Route 66 Gallery). Downtown, at the corner of7th Street and Manvel Avenue (Route 66), you can see a refurbished 1930 Phillips 66 station and the Museum of Pioneer History.
