An industry offering guided tours in Corfu Chora.
The Patounis Soap Factory, which has been in operation since 1891, is open to the curious and offers a guided tour in English every day. Here you can learn about the traditional methods still used today to make pure soap from olive oil. This industry is the only one surviving in Greece and in 2017 was listed as a Unesco intangible heritage. In the shop you can acquire a unique slice of local identity with soaps for the skin, for the face or for washing clothes. A nice souvenir.
