A remarkable statue representing the evangelist Saint Mark in Corfu Chora.

The four centuries of Venetian occupation have left their mark on the city's physiognomy. And despite the bombings of the Second World War, the lion of Saint Mark is still present on many pediments. As a reminder, the Lion of Saint Mark is the representation of the evangelist Saint Mark under the figure of the winged lion of the tetramorph. If you walk along the walls overlooking the old port, you will notice the imposing door surrounded by cannons and decorated with the winged lion. Some other beautiful buildings still remain from this period.
