Comparable to a psychedelic mushroom, this mountain as if it came out of nowhere stands in the middle of the desert, topped by a giant cross. Capital letters stand out in red, orange and pink: GOD IS LOVE. Flowers, birds, hearts and trees are painted on the side of this mound made of adobe and covered here and there with inscriptions. This is the work of Leonard Knight, a God-fearing man who lived on the site until his death in 2014: legend has it that he arrived there in a hot air balloon. If this unusual site does not deserve a detour in itself, it can be the subject of a detour on the road to Salton Sea.
