The Rue de la Poterie located in Valognes, mentioned in texts as early as the 14th century.
This street, mentioned in texts as early as the 14th century, takes its name from the potter families who concentrated their activities there. Many of the houses built along this very old road still have, on the courtyard side, elements dating from the period after the Hundred Years’ War. In the 17th and 18th centuries, many representatives of the local nobility chose to establish their residence here. The hotels of Vauquelin, Blangy, Andigné, Plessis de Grenadan, in particular, preserve the memory of this prosperous period for the aristocracy.

La Rue de la Poterie 50700 Valognes
La Rue de la Poterie peut se visiter à son rythme avec le plan de l'Office de Tourisme du Cotentin, à Valognes. En effet, ce plan propose différents circuits dont « le circuit jaune » qui passe par cette rue et fournit des informations basique mais suffisantes. C'est une rue qui rassemble un grand nombre d'anciens hôtels particuliers, dont certains très beaux et bien entretenus et encore habités. A voir en se promenant en ville.
