Capital of clove, Fénérive Est is a small city in a state of languor, where time seems to have no importance. One can go for a walk to the fort of Vohimasina where the abundant vegetation (and even coffee trees) has gradually regained its rights. By climbing a ladder to the lookout, the view is superb on all the surroundings, city, sea and hills merged in the same circular look! The islet in the heart of the bay can be reached by dugout canoe to meet the colony of lemurs that has settled there. The coast abounds in lychees, the region of Fenerive Est being the most important producer of the country. The tree was introduced from Asia to Mada in 1802.
