Mahanoro is the point of arrival of the excursions on the Pangalanes from Mananjary.It is possible to continue to Vatomandry via a sandy track that is not easily accessible. A tarred road, in better condition, leads however to Tamatave. To reach the town from Antananarivo, count between 20,000 Ar and 25,000 Ar by taxi-brousse (from the eastern bus station in Ampasapito). There is a BOA bank to change money. Near the city center, there is a spring that never runs dry and whose waters are said to have virtues. The city takes its name from this spring: Mahanoro means "which makes you feel better".
