Préfecture-Kadéï prefecture, in constant rivalry with its eastern competitor Bambari that it now exceeds today largely, Berbérati surprises. Its name in the local dialect means "many trees" and it is true that it does not have much of a proud shopping city: electricity is distributed to the gouttes and running water does not have enough pressure to go back into the pipes. But Berbérati's charm lies in its décomplexée atmosphere compared to Bangui, and its inhabitants like to remember that the salaries of the city's officials systematically diminish when the banguissoises are empty. Trade, and in particular diamond exploitation, is the reason for and the main activity of an extended city but devoid of real infrastructure.A few decades ago, business was flourishing in Berbérati. This past opulence is still in the studied and functional design of the streets, in French-inspired lamp… Nights, on the other hand, sometimes seem more animated than in Bangui: a multitude of huts to drink a glass or eat a méchoui are fighting tiny corners of the track. Berbérati has been home to many Catholic congregations for a long time: You will meet with sisters and other missionaries installed there for over forty years, living memory of a vibrant and organized city in an anarchic, proud and always eager to stand apart. Unlike the other central African cities, where economic activity begins at 30-7 p. m., Berbérati éveille later, around 30-9 p. m. Before, do not expect to find an official in his post or an open market.
