Most of the wealth used - diamonds, gold, wood or coffee - are concentrated here. Carnot is mainly a city of passage, with no major interest. It was named after the French President who had just been murdered at the time of his founding in 1894. The situation is delicate for the inhabitants of the city with the fall in diamond prices in 2011. They seem to have come back to agriculture.
