This small town, bordered by the Oubangui which separates it from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, is located only kilometres from Congo-Brazzaville and the junction point of the three countries. A motor boat goes down the river every week to Brazzaville, for 25 000 FCFA per person. This position, ideal for trade, was unfortunately ideal for the abuses committed by the bayamulengués of Jean-Pierre Bemba. The staff of the Hague International Criminal Tribunal (the Hague) - where Jean-Pierre Bemba was tried in 2010 for his war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in the Central African Republic between 2002 and 2003 - came to receive testimonies from the many victims in July 2009.
