This is the first city you pass through on the road from Gaborone to Francistown, coming from the capital. Located about halfway between the two cities, it is of very little interest to the traveller. Its economy is based on cattle breeding and extensive sorghum, maize and bean agriculture. The city is also home to one of the country's weather stations and an annex to the National Library. It is worth noting that the national railway company has its headquarters there, in front of which stands a locomotive. There are also several banks, shops, restaurants and gas stations with fast-food restaurants.
