At the confluence of the Skeena and Bulkley Rivers, the village of Hazelton was founded in 1866 with the main purpose of housing the Ksan Historic Village, which provides an opportunity to learn more about the Aboriginal peoples of the area. These First Nations peoples who originated from the territory were called Gitxsan. Hazelton was the centre of the area between Prince George and Prince Rupert , as it was the first village to have a bank, hospital, telegraph and newspaper. Guided tours are offered on site to help you put the town back in its historical and cultural context and to help you understand the different historical and cultural aspects of the town. Don't miss the historic village of Ksan, an unmissable landmark in the region.
