PEGGY'S POINT LIGHTHOUSE
The lighthouse is the emblem of the coastal village of Peggy, offering a view of the sea, with the possibility of admiring and photographing it.
The emblem of this tiny coastal village, Peggy's Cove Lighthouse is the best-known lighthouse in Atlantic Canada and one of the most recognizable in the country. The first lighthouse, built of wood in 1868, was destroyed by fire. It was replaced in 1914 by the present octagonal lighthouse, under the responsibility of the Canadian Coast Guard. It is not open to visitors, but its new observation platform offers a romantic panorama of the sea, and thousands of tourists come to photograph and admire it every year.
